Join GARP’s Japan Chapter as we delve into the opportunities and challenges posed by AI adoption in finance, with a special focus on governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks. Industry experts, Mr. Tsuyoshi Hirayama, Ecosystem Engineering Japan Lead at IBM Japan, and Mr. Yasukazu Hirata, Country Manager of Robust Intelligence Japan, will present insights on AI-driven governance, risk management, and regulatory technology for the financial sector.

Following the presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to join the networking reception to engage directly with peers and speakers, exchanging perspectives on AI's evolving role in finance. This gathering will be an excellent opportunity for risk professionals from all areas of finance to explore the practical implications of AI in GRC, discuss best practices, and gain a deeper understanding of emerging technologies in financial risk management.

Tsuyoshi Hirayama

Mr. Tsuyoshi Hirayama is the Ecosystem Engineering Japan Lead for IBM Technology at IBM Japan, where he leads a team focused on generative AI and AI governance solutions. With a background in client engineering for the financial industry Data AI; Red Hat and Cloud divisions at IBM, he has also held roles as a solution architect at AWS, financial engineer at Nomura Research Institute, and IT manager at Tokyo Stock Exchange. He has authored eight books, served as a guest professor at four universities, and holds a B.S. in Science and Engineering from Tokyo University of Science and an MBA in Finance from Waseda University.

Yasukazu Hirata

Mr. Yasukazu Hirata has over 20 years of experience in digital strategy, governance, and security at firms like Accenture, Deloitte, and VMware, he has a proven track record in corporate growth and transformation. In 2022 he founded Robust Intelligence, spearheading the entry into the to Japanese market. Over the next couple of years the business achieved double annual growth, contributing to the company's acquisition by Cisco in 2024. He holds an MBA in Finance from Hitotsubashi University and serves as Head of the Action Goals Working Group at the AI Governance Association.
