  • How can I earn the RAI Certificate?

To earn your Certificate, you'll need to pass a multiple-choice Exam. Once you're an RAI Certificate Holder, you are then strongly encouraged to participate in GARP’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program to help stay up-to-date with the latest best practices in risk management.

  • What is the structure of the RAI Exam?

The RAI Exam consists of 80 equally weighted, multiple-choice questions. The majority of Exam questions stand alone; however, groups of 3-4 questions may draw on a common lead-in scenario. Candidates are allowed four hours to complete the Exam.

  • When is the RAI Exam offered?

The RAI Exam is offered in April and October at testing sites around the world. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more about how to schedule an Exam, please visit our Exam Logistics page.

  • How much does the RAI Program cost?

The cost of the RAI Program varies based on whether a candidate is registering during the early or standard registration window. RAI registration gives candidates complimentary access to the full curriculum and a practice exam, both available via GARP Learning.

  • How long does it take to prepare for the RAI Exam?

Preparation time will vary by candidate. Our expectation is that the average preparation time will be in the range of 100-130 hours. GARP advises early registration to allow for a comfortable study pace.
