SMS Terms of Service

These SMS Terms of Service (“Terms of Service”) govern your subscription to text messages (SMS) from Global Association of Risk Professionals, Inc. (“GARP”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) via GARP’s SMS program (the “SMS Program”). By opting in to receive SMS messages from GARP, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. Program Description

GARP’s SMS Program provides: 

  • Important exam-related alerts, including time-sensitive notifications about exam location changes, exam cancellations, and other critical updates; and

  • Occasional promotional messages about GARP’s risk education programs, membership opportunities, and events (only if you separately opt in to receive promotional SMS messages).

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

2. How to Join

You may receive important exam-related SMS messages from GARP, including time-sensitive notifications such as exam location changes or cancellations, when you provide your mobile number during exam registration. Promotional SMS messages are only sent if you separately opt in to receive them.

3. Message Frequency and Rates

Important exam-related SMS messages are sent only in limited circumstances as described in Section 1 and are expected to be infrequent. If you separately opt in to receive promotional SMS messages, message frequency varies.

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

4. Opt-Out

You can cancel SMS communications from the SMS Program at any time. Simply reply STOP to any SMS message from GARP. After you send “STOP,” you will receive a one-time confirmation message, and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us.

5. Help and Support

6. Privacy

Your personal information, including your mobile number, will be handled in accordance with GARP’s Privacy Notice, which explains how we collect, use, and share personal data. SMS consent and opt-out preferences will be stored, processed, and retained as described in our Privacy Notice.

7. Changes to Terms of Service

GARP may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will post the revised Terms of Service on this page with a new effective date.
