The Circular Economy: Why It’s Not Just About Efficiency

Overview

We often promote circular economies for their sustainability and efficiency. But circular strategies are also used to manage supply chains operational risk and financial risk as well as quality and delivery times. This online meeting of the GARP Switzerland Chapter will include practical examples of how new circular strategies can help better manage risk.

 

To conclude the presentation the speakers will offer a closer look at circularity through an innovative logistical solution and explain the characteristics of circular supply chains which are flexible short lean connected and predictive. Those features must be combined to combat common risks present now more than ever in a VUCA world such as extreme price volatilities reduced budgets supply/demand challenges port issues emissions commitments and rapid technological disruptions. The meeting will conclude with a Q&A session.

Deborah Dull

Founder, Circular Supply Chain Network

Deborah Dull is the founder of the Circular Supply Chain Network and the author of Circular Supply Chains: 17 Common Questions (How Any Supply Chain Can Take the Next Step). Previously she was a Senior Principal of Manufacturing Product Management for GE Digital and an Impact Investor for Health Supply Chains at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Deborah spent six years at Microsoft where she oversaw launch management, inventory management, and innovation. She is a sought-after author and speaker, having published a variety of books, articles, and white papers and spoken at dozens of industry events. Deborah holds Supply Chain & Operations Management degrees from Western Washington University (BA) and the University of Liverpool (MSc), with a thesis focused on the digital supply chain

Matthew Reali

CEO, Ponera Group

Matthew Reali is the co-founder and CEO of Ponera Group, an innovative Swiss start-up that is launching a smart, modular, reusable, and digitally-enabled industrial packaging solution to facilitate circular logistics. Ponera Group has been named one of the 10 hottest Swiss startups and, among other distinctions, is certified as a solar impulse efficient solution in 2021. Previously Matthew worked in the COO office of a multinational industrial machine manufacturing company in operations strategy and logistics optimization. He has 3 years of experience in investment banking, trading, and sales. Matthew holds a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Swiss Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL).
