US consumers are better positioned to handle rising rates than they were on the eve of the global financial crisis. However, as SSGA’s Bruce Casper and Suzanne Smore explain, this cautious optimism is tempered by the substantial rise in student loan debt, which has more than doubled over the past 10 years.
