Quantum computing promises transformative advances in finance, including real-time portfolio optimisation and complex derivative pricing. However, its most immediate implication is risk, namely the erosion of existing cryptographic standards underpinning financial data security. This session will examine the dual-horizon challenge faced by financial institutions—balancing long-term strategic opportunity with near-term systemic vulnerability as quantum capabilities accelerate.
Join the GARP Poland Chapter and our guest, subject matter expert Oswaldo Zapata, who will present on the dual nature of quantum computing, both as a tool of value creation as well as source of systemic risk. Other key concepts that will be covered include:
- The “harvest now, decrypt later” threat model and its relevance to financial institutions
- Regulatory and supervisory considerations emerging around quantum resilience
- Strategic approaches to building organisational and technological quantum resilience
