Zurich Chapter: Distributed ledger technology (DLT) and digital assets are transforming the way securities are issued, traded, settled, and held, creating new opportunities across the financial ecosystem. This next session of the GARP Switzerland chapter will explores the evolution of securities infrastructure and the growing role of regulated digital asset markets in shaping the future of capital markets.
Using BX Digital as a case study, the discussion will illustrate how tokenized securities can be traded and settled within a regulated framework, delivering benefits such as greater efficiency, transparency, and streamlined market processes. Participants will gain an overview of the digital asset landscape, key use cases, and the types of issuers increasingly embracing tokenization.
The session will also examine where banks engage with the emerging DeFi stack and how these activities compare with today's CeFi operating models. It will highlight the strategic opportunities digital assets present for financial institutions, from enhancing client offerings to unlocking new business models and market access.
In addition, the presentation will address the practical challenges of adoption, including risk, operational readiness, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on FINMA requirements for banks trading DLT securities. Finally, attendees will learn how to access security tokens through BX Digital and how partnerships can help accelerate adoption, enabling institutions to participate confidently in the next generation of financial market infrastructure.
