GARP's Washington DC Chapter is pleased to host a conversation with John Plevin, Senior Financial Sector Specialist at The World Bank. John will discuss recent international experience as it relates to natural catastrophe (NatCat) insurance protection. Gaps in NatCat protection remain especially large in emerging and developing economies, leaving households, firms, and governments exposed to major financial losses after disasters.  Strategies to close these gaps will also be discussed, as John highlights the work that governments, insurers, development institutions, and communities need to do together to make coverage more available, affordable, and trusted, especially for vulnerable populations and high-risk sectors such as agriculture, housing, infrastructure, and public assets.

The webcast will be followed by an in-person networking reception to meet the speakers as well as peers in the risk management profession. Drinks and light refreshments will be served.

Space is limited and registration is required.
