Frankfurt, Germany: Join the GARP Germany Chapter for an exclusive in-person presentation by Patrick Amis, Director General, ECB.
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, and it’s critical to ensure the safety and soundness of banks as we navigate the structural transformations brought about by the transition to a greener and more environmentally sustainable economy and financial system.
Banks can actively support their clients to become more resilient through engagement, as well as through transition finance and adaptation finance. Importantly, banks must assess and manage the physical and transition risks that emanate from climate change and impact their clients through various transmission channels, thereby affecting the banks themselves.
This risk dimension will be the focus of Patrick’s presentation. Taking a euro-area perspective, he will discuss, primarily from a practical standpoint, the role that regulatory requirements and supervisory scrutiny play in the banking sector’s ongoing efforts to advance their capabilities to cope with climate and environmental risks. Furthermore, Patrick will address the challenges related to measuring these risks and the interim steps banks can take as they further develop their quantification approaches.
Registration is required as seats are limited. Priority will be given to GARP Individual Members.
