Zurich: Join GARP’s Zurich Chapter as our subject matter experts examine the challenges and opportunities in financing nature-based climate projects. The presentation will aim to provide a clear definition of nature-based carbon credits and highlight the critical need to scale up investment in this sector. The session will also explore innovative risk-mitigation mechanisms, including in-kind insurance, which serve to reduce financial risks and facilitate the mobilization of capital necessary to achieve climate targets. 

Specific topics that will be touched in include: 

  • Analysis of the current financing landscape 
  • Identification of key risks such as natural disasters 
  • Project delivery uncertainties

Oleksandr is a climate and geospatial data scientist with 15 years of experience in academia (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research), international organizations (the World Bank) and insurance industry (CarbonPool). He is primarily focusing on developing analytical tools and solutions for assessment of climate risks and de-risking of carbon markets.
