Japan: Please join the GARP Japan Chapter as we co-host with the CAIA Japan Chapter a highly informative session on the opportunities private assets can provide for a firm’s portfolio management and asset allocation needs.

Our subject matter experts will explore how institutional investors can strengthen portfolio construction through strategic exposure to private assets, balancing risk, return, and diversification in a multi-manager context.

The event will conclude with a networking session, providing participants an excellent opportunity to connect with investment professionals, risk managers, and academics from across Japan’s financial community.

This event will be hosted in Japanese.

Registration is required as seats are limited. Priority will be given to GARP Individual Members.

Mr. Fujisaki is the Executive Director of the Investment Strategy & Asset Allocation Unit at the Fund Management Headquarters of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), where he leads the team responsible for the overall asset allocation of the fund known as the “Japan University Fund” as well as outsourced multi-asset strategies.

He previously served as a portfolio manager of global fixed income products (unconstrained strategies) at Nomura Asset Management.

He holds a Master’s degree in Physics from the Graduate School of Science, the University of Tokyo.

He is a CFA charterholder and a CAIA charterholder.

Currently, Ms. Akutsu is engaged to support institutional business in terms of private assets in Amundi Japan. She joined the company in 2022 as risk manager. Prior to Amundi, she has various experiences such as investment specialist, risk analyst and portfolio manager. She studied quantitative finance at ICS and obtained an MBA. She has also acquired the FRM certification.

Mr. Hidenori Shimizu, Joined the company in March 1997. Co-head of the Japan Consultant Team. Oversees client support for all analytics products. He personally works with major public pension funds and mutual aid associations, addressing a wide range of challenges from portfolio risk management and integrated risk management to front-office operations.

Since joining the company, he has held various positions, including Fixed Income Risk Product Consultant, Head of the Asia Support Desk, and Consultant responsible for equity, fixed income, and multi-asset risk management solutions.

Before joining MSCI, he worked at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as a consultant serving financial institutions and service industry clients.

His major publication includes “Risk of Infrastructure Investment and Risk Management Covering the Entire Investment Portfolio” (Securities Analysts Journal, June 2014).

He is a Certified Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (CMA) and a graduate of Nagoya University, Faculty of Science, Department of Physics.
