Ana Garcia is director in the Risk Quantification Division at OSFI. The mandate of her team is to assess the evolution of model risk, including that from AI/ML adoption, in the Canadian Financial Industry as well as to leverage advanced analytics techniques to build models for risk assessment and quantification. Over the last 4 years, Ana and her team have been leading the work to explore how institutions are adopting these advanced techniques and understand the challenges and risks that come from their use to assess the risk landscape and support OSFI to provide guidance and supervision in this space. 

Ana has more than 20 years experience in Risk Management at Financial institutions, holding roles in Front Office, Counterparty Credit Risk, Market Risk and Model Risk. She has always been passionate about modelling in the financial space and in recent years has focused on promoting the responsible use of AI.

He plays a key role in expanding and developing market solutions in the US. With over 25 years of experience in capital markets and risk management, Serge has held leadership positions at Big 4 firms and system integrators across the US and Europe. His expertise in risk management spans significant regulatory transformations, across risk stripes, jurisdictions, regulations and transversal topics such as Model Risk.

William (Bill) May is the Managing Director of Global Head of Certifications and Educational Programs at GARP, and is responsible for the FRM, SCR, and other risk-relevant educational programs. Prior to joining GARP, William had over 20 years of market experience including serving as a Senior Director in Fitch Ratings’ credit market research group and as a Senior Research Officer at UBS Wealth Management. He has worked for several buy-side and sell-side firms including Bank of America and Federated Investors as well as specialty firms like Andrew Kalotay Associates and Law and Economic Consulting Group. He began his career in the research function of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and has worked on the Open Market Trading Desk and as a bank examiner. William holds a BS in applied mathematics and economics from Stony Brook University; an MBA, MA in economics, and Advanced Certificate in financial econometrics and data analysis from Fordham University; an MS in financial engineering from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, an MS in applied statistics and an EdM in measurement and evaluation from Columbia University’s Teachers College where he is currently pursuing an MS in neuroscience and education.
