This chapter meeting has passed.

This virtual meeting is co-hosted by the Commonwealth Climate and Law Initiative (CCLI), the Institute for Sustainable Finance (ISF) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), with the GARP Montreal and Toronto chapters as part of Canada Climate Week XChange.

Canadian directors are under increasing scrutiny and may face liability if they fail to manage nature-related risks such as biodiversity loss, water stress, and extreme weather events. With insured losses from natural disasters reaching record highs, and investors factoring nature into capital allocation, nature and climate risks are quickly becoming top priorities on boardroom agendas.

This webcast is designed to equip directors and risk managers with the latest knowledge and practical resources needed to navigate their legal and financial responsibilities. Our expert panel will discuss the implications of a landmark legal opinion published by the CCLI in July, which concluded that Canadian directors who fail to address nature-related risks could face liability under existing laws. Additionally, we will introduce TNFD’s Asking Better Questions (ABQ) Guide on Nature, a key resource for boards seeking to surface decision-useful information and integrate nature-related issues across governance, strategy, risk management, and capital allocation processes.

Join us to gain practical, actionable insights into how proactive nature governance can protect value, mitigate litigation and reputational risks, and position your company for success in a changing market.
