Addressing the Challenges of Climate-Aligned Finance, Risk, and Resilience Through Open Source Collaboration

Thierry Chevalier has spent most of his career in the modeling and simulation of complex aeronautical systems. He has now transitioned to integrated assessment models, with his current focus being enhancing the capabilities of these models, with a particular emphasis on enabling ecosystems and actors to collaboratively devise and implement robust strategies for managing transitions.

For 27 years, Truman Semans has been a leader in the development of better data and modeling for integrating climate and sustainability into economic investing, finance, economic development, business, and regulation. He is founder and CEO of OS-Climate, providing open data and open source analytics for climate-aligned finance and investing. Previously, Truman was CEO of Element Capital Advisors, Partner of strategy consultancy GreenOrder, Director of the Pew Business Environmental Leadership Council, and a consultant with McKinsey. He co-founded the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP).

As an international economist with the U.S. Treasury Department, Truman led U.S. government interagency participation in the World Bank/UN Global Environment Facility and was financial mechanisms lead on the U.S. Climate Change Negotiating Team. He has an MBA and BA from Duke University and an MA in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS.

Matt Sandoe has more than 25 years of senior experience in financial risk management in diverse environments including government-funded entrepreneurial schemes and food sector R&D. Currently he is a climate risk manager at BNP Paribas bank and also Physical Risk Lead and Chief of Staff at the Linux Foundation's open source climate initiative, OS-Climate.

Leyla Javadova joined the Allianz Investment Management Team in 2018, working on ESG integration processes and reporting for the global Allianz portfolio. She leads the firm’s ESG data solutions and analytics project with a focus on climate and the regulatory landscape. Leyla is also leading the Sector Alignment Tool Workstream within the open source climate initiative (OS-Climate), where she is developing a forward-looking climate model that assesses companies on their alignment with the long-term net-zero climate goals.

Matthieu Meaux spent a long career in the aerospace sector with a focus on modeling and simulation to support engineering and strategy decisions. With a decades-long passion for fighting climate change, he has led the developments of the OS-C transition analysis project for several years. His current work is focused on leading the development of OS-C’s WITNESS integrated assessment model to find solutions to the difficult transition humanity is facing. Matthieu is eager to provide his expertise to support the development, demonstration and use of the WITNESS model.
