Register for the SCR Exam
Sign up for an Exam by entering your account details and paying the applicable exam fees for a specific exam window.
Schedule Your SCR Exam
After registering, choose between taking your SCR Exam remotely using Pearson VUE’s online proctoring system or on-site at a Pearson VUE computer-based testing (CBT) center, as well as your date, time, and location (where applicable).
Prepare for the SCR Exam
Create a study plan with the official SCR Exam Book (available as an eBook or printed book), our comprehensive online GARP Learning platform which includes a full-length practice exam, and other official study materials.
Pass the SCR Exam
Complete the Exam and pass to receive your Certificate and digital badge to showcase your expertise.

The SCR Exam comprises 80 equally-weighted multiple-choice questions, including one case study, that require both analytical thinking and practical application. Candidates are allotted four hours to complete their Exam.

The SCR Exam tests a broad range of topics, including climate change, sustainability, transition planning, and green finance to ensure a well-rounded mastery of the subject.

Approximately 100-150 hours of study is recommended to prepare for the Exam, with GARP providing extensive resources to support your journey including an official SCR Practice Exam.

After earning the Certificate, GARP encourages you to continue your climate risk journey with our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program to further education and advancement in the field.

Pass Rates
The SCR Exam is scored on a pass/fail basis. Candidates who don't pass their Exam can register at a reduced rate during the next two exam cycles.
Pass rates are subject to change based on the number of candidates. Since the start of the SCR, more than 16,000 candidates have sat for an Exam.
