Join the GARP Australia chapter for an engaging discussion on risk events - both realised and emerging - and the ability of financial institutions to navigate the resultant market volatility. The role of regulation in strengthening the industry’s resilience to risk events, and how risk management tools can be practically applied as part of the risk management process. Our panel of industry leaders will provide invaluable insight on: 

  • Lessons learned from recent and historical events, and subsequent perspectives on emerging risks
  • The evolution of the regulatory environment
  • Stress testing best practices, including the role of AI

David has worked across all the Australian banks on regulatory programs and more broadly has specialized in risk management for Markets’ businesses. This includes initial margin, MiFID 2, Volcker implementation plan, Dodd Frank and data integrity assessments.

Gabriele has extensive experience in risk and investment management across Australia, Germany, the United States and Japan. She works closely with ASX listed APRA regulated entity Boards and reviews transactions and business proposals as a member of the Asset and Liability Committee at Challenger. 

Current responsibilities include overseeing group-wide scenario testing and providing strategic direction and thought leadership across financial risk. Prior to Challenger, Gabriele held various risk roles at CBA, ANZ, Macquarie, Dresdner Bank, Lehman Brothers and Deutsche Bank

David is a financial risk manager with cross-asset experience in the APAC market with expertise on exotic trading & structuring, hedge strategy & stress testing design. He is currently the Senior Manager, Clearing Risk Data Analytics & Framework with ASX where he oversees the analytics, margin & stress testing frameworks. David formerly worked with CBA, ABCI, Mirae Asset, and JP Morgan, and is a certified FRM.

Chris is an investment / market risk manager with experience performing risk oversight of equity, fixed interest, credit and private debt portfolios across asset management, investment banking and hedge fund industries. Areas of focus include stress testing, VaR analysis, risk framework development and risk mitigation strategy. Currently he is a Senior Vice President at Citi, working in Global Market Risk, and is a certified FRM.
