Enterprise risk management is de rigueur, to be sure, a common heads-up from the consulting crowd and even a regulatory or internal-audit checklist item. But according to 2009 research from the National Association of Corporate Directors and Oliver Wyman Group, 56% of board members considered themselves effective or highly effective in oversight of operational and strategic risks.
