About Pillar 3

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision introduced Pillar 3 in 2004 as a part of the Basel Framework to promote market discipline and enhance transparency by requiring banks to publicly disclose key information related to their capital structure, risk assessment, processes, and capital equity.

Pillar 3 disclosure allows stakeholders to evaluate a bank’s risk profile for the benefit of their own risk management objectives, from opening a checking account to regulating entire banking systems.

Transparency is afforded by sourcing data directly from banks or a government database.

Restated data values are captured through a regular look-back process.

Data dictionary and risk taxonomy are accessible via the front-end along with the source file library and catalog of data changes.
