About Us
GBI’s mission is to act as a trusted partner to the industry, providing robust and efficient data aggregation benchmarking services. We have particular expertise in supporting evidence-based policymaking and risk management research.

Our Mission
GBI is an industry-led benchmarking tool that enables firms to understand how they compare to peers across any given combination of qualitative and/or quantitative metrics. Each benchmarking study is backed by rigorous legal documentation and strong data security measures, which gives the firms we work with the utmost confidence in collecting and analysing highly sensitive data. All data contributions are aggregated and anonymised with no firm-specific data ever being disclosed without the express approval of the firms in question.
As a result, GBI is often leveraged as a trusted, independent partner for regulatory advocacy, providing shadow industry Quantitative Impact Studies (QIS) data. We regularly interact with leading trade associations such as the Financial Services Forum (FSF), International Institute of Finance (IIF), Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA) and its respective associations and the European Banking Federation (EBF) amongst others.
Our Story
GBI was launched in 2012 for banks to compare risk measures against realistic benchmark portfolios. We quickly pivoted to become an independent, non-partisan platform to support cross-border benchmarking studies of a regulatory nature. We work with firms across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and have a particularly strong presence in the US where all major US G-SIBs subscribe to our services. We are dedicated to building out this model across the globe.
