Qualified Learning Activities
The CPE program is structured to recognize the diverse needs of financial and energy risk professionals around the world by offering an extensive range of Qualified Learning Activities that can be submitted for credit. Credits may be obtained through GARP sponsored programs, approved Activity Providers or other credible, well-established program providers.
Typically, Qualified Learning Activities will fall into the broad categories below. If you have any questions regarding whether an activity in which you plan to participate will earn GARP CPE program credits, please contact CPE@garp.com.

Qualified Learning Activities should be educational in nature and focused on energy or financial market risk-relevant topics. Activities submitted for credits should not be marketing or career related. Credits should be calculated based on time actively involved in education or, in some cases, preparation.
Qualified Learning Activities may include the following; see CPE Handbook for detailed credit guidelines:
  • Relevant professional association/society meetings
  • Training courses from GARP, approved Activity Providers or other risk-relevant providers
  • Webcasts/podcasts
  • Conferences, seminars, roundtables or other energy/financial risk-related briefings
  • Employee-based education programs
  • Selected readings from the GARP Digital Library and other similar types of activities
  • Energy/financial market or risk-related university courses or executive education programs
  • Teaching a risk or energy/financial-market focused course
  • Publishing energy or financial risk-relevant articles, research papers or books
  • Speaking at a risk or energy/financial-market focused event or webinar
  • Passing relevant investment-related regulatory or designation exams (e.g., FINRA, Level I,II, III of CFA, CPA)
  • Becoming a GARP Regional Chapter Director
  • If there is an activity you would like to participate in that is not listed as a Qualified Learning Activity, you will need to submit a request to have the activity provider and/or activity reviewed and approved by the GARP CPE committee. If you have any questions, email CPE@garp.com.
