ICBRR Program Guidelines
Registration
All individuals who sit for the International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation exam must complete the on-line registration form. Candidates will have nine months from the date of a paid registration to pass the Certificate exam. Candidates who fail to do so or who fail to attempt to pass the examination within the nine-month registration period must re-register as a new candidate.
The exam is offered through Pearson VUE test centers. Candidates wishing to take the examination must have first registered and paid with GARP and have received an Authorization Letter with their examination registration details via e-mail. They must reserve a date and location at a Pearson VUE testing center, via the
Pearson VUE web site
.
Upon receiving payment, GARP will issue your Authorization Letter via e-mail. However, you may obtain a copy of your Authorization Letter by
clicking here
. Please note that you will need your GARP ID, log-in e-mail address and password.
When completing the GARP registration form, candidates must use the name exactly as it appears on their current passport and/or government issued photo ID. If the name used to register differs from the candidate's formal ID they will not be admitted to the test site.
An un-expired passport and/or government issued photo ID is the only valid identification for examination purposes. Candidates who do not provide valid identification will be refused entry to the examination. GARP's Identification Policy will be strictly enforced.
Test Questions and Results
The ICBRR exam consists of 80 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 170 minutes. An additional 5 minutes will be provided to the candidates to review a separate Non-Disclosure Agreement prior to taking the exam. If a candidate does not agree to the NDA, then they will forfeit their ability to sit for the examination and have to reschedule. A candidate needs to answer 54 questions correctly in order to pass. The examination will be given in electronic form.
Questions will be presented randomly and not by category, e.g. Market Risk, Credit Risk, as the candidate is expected to be able to address risk-related issues in a comprehensive way.
Examination results will be provided immediately upon completion of the examination by touching the results button on the computer's touch screen.
Testing Prerequisites
Candidates are not permitted to take any personal possessions into the examination. This includes calculators, all cell phones, smart phones, pagers, pens, papers or books of any kind. If any such items are required they will be provided by Pearson VUE at the test center.
Candidates may not transfer their registration to another candidate.
Candidates will not be allowed to extend the time period in which they are required to take and pass the examinations (see Examination Timelines and Preparation section).
All candidates must comply with Pearson VUE test center rules.
It is the responsibility of the candidate to inform GARP of any change to their personal information. Candidates who change their legal name or address during their registration period must contact
gra.support@garp.com
to arrange for their Pearson VUE registration to be updated.
Examination Timeline
Candidates have a nine month window from the date of a paid registration including a re-registration to pass the examination. During this period, the candidate may make a maximum of two attempts to pass the ICBRR examination. Candidates who either fail, or do not take the examination within their nine-month registration period, must re-register and pay another full registration fee.
Should a candidate fail an examination he/she will have to wait for a period of 30 days to retake the exam. Should the candidate fail the examination less than 30 days prior to the expiration of the nine-month period they will have to wait for a period of 30 days to retake the examination irrespective of whether they are required to register as a new candidate because their nine-month examination time period has expired.
For candidates having little industry experience, or for those not versed in banking risk-related issues, it is recommended that they spend at least two months reviewing the materials before making their first attempt to pass the examination.
Failure to Abide by the Rules & Regulations
Candidates who fail to abide by the rules for the International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation program will be excluded from the program, registration will be deemed null and void and all International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation examination registration fees will be forfeited. The candidate may also be disqualified indefinitely from re-registering for the International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation examination program.
GARP shall decide on any interpretation of these Rules/Approaches and Guidelines in its sole and absolute discretion and on any matter where these rules are silent. Its decision shall be final, binding and not subject to appeal.
